Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been called out by social media to stick to their promise and leave the United States if Donald Trump wins the US election as it’s most likely going to be considering seen results.
The couple has since moved to the US after stepping back as senior royals earlier this year and have been commenting actively on American politics. Although Meghan lived in America before getting married to British Prince Harry, and she reportedly said she would leave the US if Mr Trump became president during the 2016 election.
During an interview on the Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore in May 2016, the Duchess said she would stay in Canada where she starred in the TV show Suits. “If that is really the reality we are talking about then that is a game-changer in terms of how we move in the world here.”
Twitter users seem to be reminding her that her words should be her bond, and that will show better if she leaves the US if President Trump wins the election this year.
A Twitter user posted a picture of some other celebrities with the caption, “Meghan Markle and Prince Harry when you pack and leave after a Trump Landslide… Take these other YAHOOS with you. Thanks.”
“What happened all the actors and entertainers who were going to leave the US if Trump won in 2016? Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were not going to move to the US while Trump was President. When Trump wins 2020 how many who say they will leave will actually leave?” another user posted.
We also found another Twitter user who said, “Why can’t some people, such as pretentious Meghan Markle, who promised to leave US if Trump became POTUS, keep their promise? They need to learn something from Trump: Promise made, promise kept.”
The Duchess of Sussex had described President Trump as ‘misogynistic’ during her TV interview in 2016, she said, “it was crazy that Mr Trump’s controversial comments do not have an effect on his supporters.
“Yes, of course, Trump is divisive, think about female voters alone, right? I think it was in 2012 the Republican Party lost the female vote by 12 points, that is a huge number and with as misogynistic as Trump is, and so vocal about it, that is a huge chunk of it.”
President Trump’s former campaign advisor, Corey Lewandowski, said he hoped the couple would leave the US. The after Meghan and Harry commented on the US election, Mr Lewandowski told the Daily Mail, “They made Britain great again by leaving, I hope they do the same for us.”
During a broadcast on the Time 100 program, Prince Harry said, “As we approach this November, it’s vital that we reject hate speech, misinformation and online negativity.”
While Meghan said, “Every four years, we’re told the same thing, ‘This is the most important election of our lifetime.’ But this one is. When we vote, our values are put into action, and our voices are heard.”
The Duchess is the first person in the modern royal family to vote in a US presidential election.
