Nicola captioned the post: “I’m really excited to be joining this year’s incredible line-up for @bbcstrictly. I’m a huge fan of the show and am thrilled to be part of something that holds such a special place in so many people’s hearts.”

She added: “You all know me from my work in the ring, but I’ll be every bit as passionate and dedicated on the dance-floor too. I also wanted to thank the BBC for supporting me and making me the first ever female-lead.”

Others that have been confirmed to join this year’s line-up on Strictly Come Dancing are Good Morning Britain presenter Ranvir Singh, Radio 1 DJ Clara Amfo, singer/songwriter Max George, actress Caroline Quentin, and former American footballer Jason Bell.

The celebrity contestants will be asked to ‘bubble’ with their dance partners for the duration of the series, which is set to be shorter with no live audience.

The airing date is said to be October 24th with a nine-week run, rather than the usual 13, due to precautions surrounding the global Covid-19 pandemic.
