The annual Reading and Leeds Festivals are set to officially return next year after being cancelled in 2020 due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.
There will be six headliners split across two main stages of each site and a whole host of big names to perform at the long-awaited music festivals.
2021’s headliners will see the likes of Post Malone, Liam Gallagher, Stormzy, Catfish And The Bottlemen, Disclosure, and Queens Of The Stone Age.
Other performances will include Doja Cat, Lewis Capaldi, AJ Tracey, Mabel, and Two Door Cinema Club, along with rappers DaBaby, Ashnikko, and Fever 333.
Though it has been noted that the festivals have failed to book a female headliner once again, leaving many fans outraged at the lack of female representation.
Reading and Leeds are both among the longest-running and largest music events in Britain. Reading has a capacity audience of 105,000 music fans, while Leeds can take up to 75,000.
The number expected for next year’s events are expected to at least go up to 200,000 fans, with the festivals running from 27th to 29th August 2021.
The Reading Festival started way back in the 1960s and used to be well-known as a rock festival, though as the years went by they started to include a more diverse line-up and added Leeds as the second site in 1999.
The festivals will be taking place at the usual venues which are Richfield Avenue in Reading and Bramham Park in Leeds.
According to BBC the head of the event’s promoters Festival Republic, Melvin Benn, said that next year holds their “most epic plan yet”.
“Two main stages, six headliners, the best line up of acts 2021 will see and 200,000 fans are going to celebrate the best music.” – Melvin added.
Tickets are set to go on sale for the 2021 Reading and Leeds Festivals on the 3rd of September 2020 and will be available from Ticketmaster. Let’s hope that the global Covid-19 pandemic has eased in time for the festivities so that they can go ahead as planned without being cancelled.
