Chadwick Boseman, ‘Black Panther’ Actor, Has Died

'Black Panther' actor Chadwick Boseman has saddly died at the age of 43 after a private four-year battle with colon cancer.

‘Black Panther’ actor Chadwick Boseman has sadly died at the age of 43 after a private four-year battle with colon cancer.

A statement was shared on his social media accounts to confirm the news, as his wife and family paid tribute to ‘a true fighter’.

The actor died at his home in the Los Angeles area, many did not know about his battle with cancer but he had the support of his wife and family who were by his side till the end.

In the statement posted recently, his family said: “It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman.”

The statement went on to say: “Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV.”

“A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much.” – The family added.

It was revealed that from the movies ‘Marshall’ to ‘Da 5 Bloods’, and August Wilson’s ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’, along with a few more, were all filmed ‘during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy’ that Chadwick went through.

The statement carried on: “It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.”

“The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.” – The statement concluded.

Chadwick was born in South Carolina, he had graduated from Howard University Washington, DC, where he studied directing. Then he attended the British American Drama Academy in Oxford.

The actor had been well known for playing real-life figures, which include the professional baseball player Jackie Robinson in the 2013 biopic titled ’42’, James Brown in 2014’s ‘Get On Up’, and Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall in 2017’s ‘Marshall’.

Though Chadwick will be best remembered for his role as King T’Challa in 2018’s ‘Black Panther’.

He first appeared in the ‘Black Panther’ film role two years earlier in ‘Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War’, as well as reprising the role again in 2018’s ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and 2019’s ‘Avengers: Endgame’.

Marvel Studios released a statement on his passing on Twitter, they said: “Our hearts are broken and our thoughts are with Chadwick Boseman’s family. Your legacy will live on forever. Rest In Peace.”

Mark Ruffalo also tweeted: “All I have to say is the tragedies amassing this year have only been made more profound by the loss of #ChadwickBoseman.”

“What a man, and what an immense talent. Brother, you were one of the all-time greats and your greatness was only beginning. Lord love ya. Rest in power, King.” – Mark added.

Other celebrities and fans have flooded social media with their condolences and fond memories of Chadwick Boseman, many could not believe that the actor had died as he truly impacted numerous lives.
