Lionsgate recently announced that ‘John Wick’ which stars Keanu Reeves will be back with a fourth and fifth film as they hope to start production early next year.
This is exciting news for fans of the ‘John Wick’ franchise and Keanu Reeves as they have done well with the past movies and with the next two installments hoping to be shot back-to-back, there’s a lot more to look forward to.
The studio’s CEO Jon Feltheimer said: “We’re also busy preparing scripts for the next two installments of our ‘John Wick’ action franchise, with ‘John Wick 4’ slated to hit theatres Memorial Day weekend 2022.”
“We hope to shoot both ‘John Wick 4 & 5’ back-to-back when Keanu becomes available early next year.” – Feltheimer added.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and shutdown, ‘John Wick 4’ had been delayed by a year, as it was meant to be released on May 21st, 2021, but is now looking at being released on May 27th, 2022, which is also Memorial Day weekend in the United States.
More good news to look forward to is that there is a related TV show series project titled ‘The Continental’ set to debut on Starz which is looking to premiere sometime following the fourth movie.
Jon Feltheimer said: “With the appetite for fresh content at an all-time high and options for consumers dwindling due to the global shutdown, we made it a strategic priority to be one of the first major studios back into production.”
“Over the past five months, we’ve put together a thoughtful strategy to restart production with protocols to best ensure the safety of cast and crew.” – Feltheimer added.
Lionsgate has also announced that while expanding on a fifth ‘John Wick’ movie which stars Keanu Reeves that they will also have a ‘Dirty Dancing’ film reboot.
