Chloe x Halle released a second album titled ‘Ungodly Hour’. It has been one week after delaying the release of the album, which was done respectfully to keep the focus on the Black Lives Matter movements.
The sisters started their career appearing in minor acting roles in films, like The Fighting Temptations and Let It Shine. They then decided in their early teens to try out music, they began posting music covers on YouTube, one song being a cover of ‘Pretty Hurts’ by Beyoncé, who later discovered the video and signed them onto her record label at Parkwood Entertainment.
Chloe x Halle released their first album titled ‘The Kids Are Alright’ in 2018 under Beyoncé’s record label Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records. ‘Ungodly Hour’ has been released under the same labels as well.
The sisters released ‘Ungodly Hour’ on June 12th, with thirteen tracks of R&B music. This includes their single titled ‘Do It’, as well as their Swae Lee/Mike Will Made-It collaboration on ‘Catch Up’.
Chloe x Halle spoke with Zane Lowe in May about the process of working on ‘Ungodly Hour’ during a nation-wide quarantine, the sisters said that the process has never stopped for them.
“There has been blood, sweat, and tears into the process of this new album that we have,” Halle said.
“And we’ve been trying to release it to just get it out from under us because we just keep creating and songs keep stacking on top of each other. … So of course it has been a process, but for me especially, I feel like I’ve learned a lot of patience and I’ve learned to keep the faith because if I do so then things will be okay in the long run,” Halle added.
“What I’ve been learning as I’ve been constantly growing every day is that no matter how much I try to plan, it’s okay if things don’t go my way, and I’m such a control freak and perfectionist,” Chloe included.
Chloe x Halle hold writing credits in all 13 tracks, and Chloe produced the songs ‘Intro’, ‘Baby Girl’, and ‘Overwhelmed’. Halle also shares producing credit with her sister on ‘Wonder What She Thinks Of Me’, as well as ‘ROYL’.
Currently the ‘Forgive Me’ music video is out with the album –
Chloe and Halle have received Grammy nominations for their 2018 debut ‘The Kids Are Alright’ and are becoming regulars on the teen sitcom Grown-ish. Halle is also due to star as Ariel in Disney’s live-action of The Little Mermaid, which will be a big boost for her profile.
The reaction to the release of the sisters’ new album is expected as fans could not hold back their excitement as the duo continues to carve out their legacy as stars.
