Online graduation ceremonies for 2020 graduates were held by celebrities which really made it special during a time of a pandemic. Oprah Winfrey and many other celebrities got together to celebrate the 2020 Graduation class that was held online with a virtual celebration on Facebook and Instagram on May 15.

Online graduation ceremonies for 2020 graduates were held by celebrities which really made it special during a time of a pandemic. Oprah Winfrey and many other celebrities got together to celebrate the 2020 Graduation class that was held online with a virtual celebration on Facebook and Instagram on May 15.

This has been a troubling time for us all as we face new challenges around COVID-19. Due to this pandemic, we had to cancel a lot of major events and one that meant a lot to the youth was their graduation ceremonies.

It is usually a huge time to celebrate and is seen as a right of passage, students also fear that the impact of COVID-19 will affect their future career prospects as well.  So celebrities decided to work around the pandemic by celebrating virtually and giving the students some encouraging words on their futures.

A #Graduation2020 event was broadcast on Facebook Watch and some parts will be available on Instagram (@instagram). Some celebrities included in this were Miley Cyrus, Amy Schumer, Ashley Graham, Awkwafina, Ben Platt, Bretman Rock, Chris Paul, Damian Lillard, David Dobrik, Diplo, DJ Khaled, Hailee Steinfeld, Cardi B, Jennifer Garner, John Mayer, Kristen Bell, Selena Gomez, Hugh Jackman, Usher, Sesame Street, Winnie Harlow, and a few more.

Miley Cyrus appears singing her 2009 hit ‘The Climb‘ as she says the 2020 graduation class has inspired her and given new meaning to the song.

Oprah Winfrey gives us inspiring comfort as she says “I know you may not feel like it, but you are indeed the chosen class for such a time as this — the class of 2020. You’re also a united class, the pandemic class that has the entire world striving to graduate with you.”

Winfrey reminds graduates that it’s okay not to have all the answers and that we must remember to stay true to ourselves.

“I wish I could tell you I know the path forward. I don’t. There is so much uncertainty. In truth, there always has been. What I do know is that the same guts and imagination that got you to this moment — all those things are the very things that are going to sustain you through whatever is coming,” said Oprah Winfrey.

Cardi B also delivered an inspiring message to the class of 2020 saying, “I just want to say congrats to all my high school and to all my college graduates. Congrats congrats congrats! And don’t let no Coronavirus, no nothing, take this special moment from you.”

This is only one online graduation ceremony hosted this week among the many that have replaced stage walks and tossing one’s cap for millions of high school seniors and college graduates.

Matthew McConaughey inspired everyone on Good Morning America with his guidelines on how to live life, for example, “Don’t be afraid to fail. Learn who you are, take risks to be that person, then persist and pursue to get what you want.”

There are more virtual graduation ceremonies that will be held by celebrities like ‘Barack Obama with Debbie Allen, Steve Harvey, Chris Paul, Vince Carter, Wyclef Jean, and others’. This will be one of the former president, Obamas, three virtual commencement speeches where he will be joined by other celebrities.

Adult Swim will be streaming a series of 2020 graduation ceremonies held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8 p.m ET, starting May 18 on YouTube and the Adult Swim app. As well as Teen Vogue who has a lineup of inspiring women for a commencement event taking place on May 31.

Oprah Winfrey will also be headlining an online graduation ceremony for high school seniors in Chicago next month. As you can see there will be many celebrations held online to make up for the special moments graduates have lost out on.

Who thought we would be having online graduation ceremonies for 2020, but it’s nice to see that celebrities from all over are trying to help and support students who are so unsure of their futures especially during this time. We have all been inspired by the heartfelt actions these celebrities are taking. Well done to the class of 2020 #Graduation2020.
